Downriver: Und pl??tzlich kam das Wasser!
Am 2.7. morgens um 8.30 wurde beschlossen, dass die Abfahrt auf einem neuen Flu?�abschnitt, der noch von keinem Team gefahren war, statt finden sollte. Na gut, begeben wir uns mal dorthin. Doch der neue Abschnitt sah genauso steinig wie die Alternative aus. Viele Teams waren nicht so begeistert davon ein Training vor dem Rennen zu fahren und dazu noch einen Steinslalom.
Aber dann. Es hatte die ganze Nacht geregnet und rechtzeitig zum Start war dann auch das Wasser da. 50 cm mehr als vormittags beim Training. Und da hatten wir dann unsere Big Waves! 4 sch??ne Rapids, die uns ganz sch??n tanzen liessen.
Viel Spa?� hatten wir in den gro?�en Wellen, weniger in den flachen Pools dazwischen. Leider sind wir so viel Wucht und Wellen nicht so gew??hnt und landeten somit auf dem 9. Platz.
Im Gesamtergebnis wurden wir so 7.
Und nun wird erst mal ausgeruht!

PlayStation Phone - No internal memory? That seems kind of weird since I doubt this thing will use UMD. Also, isn’t the PSP2 coming out next year? Will they make a PSP Phone 2? I’m kind of skeptical on this one. well, i can’t edit…but i wanted to add this. i wont be surprised if sony adds some type of adapter add on to the PS3 (something to support the IR blasters, and maybe a small unit within that add on that has more RAM) so it can support google tv. It would make so much sense for sony to be even more of a presence in the living room, other than what the ps3 can already do. If google tv ends up working out all the kinks, and getting better…i wouldn’t be surprised. On top of that being a selling point (a huge one) over the Wii and similar to the Xbox integration w/ att uverse, you’d be able to get the PSP phone and the ps3 to work all buddy buddy together. the possibilities are endless if you ask me. Thats generally where grave control comes in (Kycoo The Ghost Destroyer is a must, maybe D.D. Crow sided in). Sadly with the rise of blackwings the deck isn’t nearly as good as it once was, but its a wonderfully cheap and strategic deck to play, good luck!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

Alternatively you could go directly to Mar Vista and skip the Pelican Inn, then add two nights way up north at the wonderful, if simple, Requa Inn, but its a five-hour drive. There are closer places, like Humboldt Redwoods, but the only worthwhile place to stay near the Avenue of the Giants is the Benbow Inn. But this is a different trip altogether.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard.
